Melkbosstrand, usually just called Melkbos, is a coastal town about 30 km north of the city along the R27. It has kept a relaxed, small-town feel, with homes close to the beach, newer estates including the Atlantic Beach golf estate, and smallholdings and farms on the surrounding land.
