Noordhoek has a semi-rural feel, with its long beach, the wetlands and the Chapman’s Peak end of the valley. Properties range from smallholdings and equestrian plots to large homes in security estates and family homes in the surrounding areas such as Sun Valley and Sunnydale.
Wet, sandy ground
Much of the Noordhoek valley is low-lying and sandy, with wetlands and a high water table in winter. This is one of the most challenging ground conditions for paving:
- Sand has little strength until it is confined and compacted.
- High groundwater can soften the base from underneath during the wet months.
- Water has nowhere obvious to go on flat ground.
We investigate the ground on every Noordhoek site. Depending on what we find, we may raise the driveway slightly above surrounding ground, use a thicker or better-draining base, and design side drains or soakaways to keep water away from the layer works.
Long driveways and private roads
Smallholdings and equestrian properties often have long, sandy access roads that rut and wash out. Through our road construction service, we reshape and strengthen these and surface them with tar or a chip seal, depending on budget and use. Horsebox and trailer access needs a strong base and wide, gentle turns.

Noordhoek has several security and lifestyle estates with internal roads, gatehouses and visitor parking. Estate guidelines usually cover the look of driveways, and we work within them. For estate managers, we offer pothole repairs, crack sealing, slurry seal, speed humps and line marking.

Rural character
