Mossel Bay is a working harbour town and holiday destination at the western end of the Garden Route, with Hartenbos, Dana Bay, Great Brak River and other coastal villages close by. It combines industry and port activity with retirement villages, holiday homes, golf estates and fast-growing residential areas.
Coastal climate
Mossel Bay has a milder, drier climate than George, but its surfaces still face:
- Salt air and sea spray, which corrode steel gate tracks, drain grates and fittings.
- Wind, which carries sand onto driveways and into drains.
- Coastal sand in many areas, which needs a properly built, compacted base and firm edge restraint.
- Rain spread through the year, typical of the Garden Route.
We build to suit these conditions and recommend simple maintenance to keep surfaces in good shape.
Industrial and commercial work
Mossel Bay’s harbour, industrial areas and transport businesses need tough surfaces:
- Heavy-duty yards and loading areas for trucks and forklifts, built through our parking area and road construction services.
- Pothole repairs to keep yards operational.
- Line marking for loading bays, walkways and traffic routes.
Estates and retirement villages
Mossel Bay, Hartenbos and Dana Bay have many estates and retirement villages. We help with resurfacing, slurry seal, crack sealing, speed humps and re-marking, planned around residents.
Homes and holiday homes
- New tar driveways and brick paving for homes and holiday houses.
- Extra parking for boats, caravans and visitors.
Holiday letting and guest parking
Many Mossel Bay and Hartenbos homes are let to holiday visitors, so guest parking needs to be clear and easy to use. Marked bays, a paved apron at the entrance and good lighting make a big difference to guests arriving at night.
Retirement villages
Mossel Bay’s retirement villages need level, slip-resistant walkways and gentle speed control on internal roads. We plan this work to cause the least disruption to residents.
Industrial areas and the harbour
Yards near the harbour and in the industrial areas carry heavy trucks and forklifts. We build these with a thicker base and asphalt layer where vehicles turn and load, so the surface lasts under constant use.
